Crumble! Gallium meets Aluminium
Liquid gallium seeps in between the grains of aluminium and breaks them apart, so a strong aluminium bar becomes weak enough to snap with your fingers.
The result
- What you get
- Gallium soaked into aluminium
- When it happens
- At room temperature
Fun fact from Fizzy: Gallium melts in your hand, but airlines ban it on planes because it can weaken aluminium!
🥽 Only do this with a grown-up, and keep gallium away from anything made of aluminium.
